I've notice while ripping my CDs with Grip, that my system clock slowly winds down until after ripping an entire CD it can be 30 minutes behind.

This only seems to happen when gripping. Any ideas?

You might want to take a look at this thread.

I've made sure my time settings are correct, and time runs perfectly unless I rip a CD, it then slows down about 1 minute per song using Grip.

I know I could install ntpd to ensure the time is updated back to the correct setting, but that's a bit of a cludge. It doesn't fix the problem.

If you look at this thread, it mentions that setting CONFIG_JIFFIES to 100 in the kernel solved the problem with CD ripping.

I never was able to find any 'jiffies' setting in make menuconfig.

It is under "Processor type and Features->Set jiffies for i386 (HZ) (Multiple of 20)" in the gentoo kernel sources.

Ah, that explains it. I'm using a vanilla kernel.
