USEing the '3dnow' variable without a AMD processor...?

Hello!

I'm installing Gentoo 1.4_rc1 on my IBM 600E laptop (pentium II 366MHz). Compiling gcc-3.2 stuff right now. However I forgot to remove or uncheck the 3dnow variable in the USE list in make.conf :oops:

- will that have serious performance effects on my system later on? Is it ok to remove 3dnow at a later stage?

You can remove it later without problems. The USE variable for 3dnow, mmx, sse, etc. should only affect packages that have optional support for use of those instructions. I don't think that's the case for anything installed during the bootstrap or even emerge system.
