I upgraded from 3.0.1 to 3.0.3 on a Gentoo 1.2 system and now when I start KDE i get a popup saying that no mimetypes can be found. I check the mimelnk directory and they're all there. Not only that, but after installing 3.0.3 I ran an 'emerge clean' but it said I had no outdated packages. Shouldn't it have gotten rid of 3.0.1? I can still use my system but it's a pain because everything has to be run from a konsole. Not only that, but when I try to go into the control panel, the window pops up but there are no options on the left. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is possible that they were using different slots, in that case clean won't remove them. You can run:
Code:
qpkg -d -v

To see duplicate packages, and then remove them by running:
Code:
emerge -C =<package_and_version>

For example:
Code:
emerge -C =kdelibs-3.0.1

The = sign instructs it to unmerge only the specific version of the packages (instead of unmerging everything).
