emerge/unmerge of packages having issues

That's what I'm wondering too. Will my system slowly die on me now that I disabled its sandbox :?:

Anybody have any idea on what it is that sandbox does and if it is essential ?

from my understanding, it sandboxes (go figure? :wink:

) a configure/make and all into a certain directory of the temp directory... kinda like a chroot, but a lil different.
