In my boot process I still have 2 warnings:
Quote:
Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31
ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx

Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann
agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 203M
agpgart: Unsupported SiS chipset (device id: 0646), you might want to try agp_try_unsupported=1.

What should use as a value for idebus?

Where should I set agp_try_unsupported=1 ?

Thank for your answers.

Gilles

This would depend on your IDE chipset. I don't think you will experience much of a performance hit leaving this alone.

I would try the kernel boot parameters where they are passed by your bootloader - the same place you specify "root=/dev/wherever".

I already tried that, but it does not seem to change anything.

But I still do not have X and KDE emerged.

The agp_try_unsupported=1 is a module load parameter. So make sure you are compiling agpgart as a module, and then add:

Code:

options agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1

to modules.conf. You can alos pass it to modprobe with the -o command line option.
