OMFG that changelog is HUGE... I thought Linus intimated that the 2.6 development pace would be slowing down but instead it's speeding up?

I agree, I was surprised to see a 2.6.4 rc candidate at all, never mind with the changes shown.

I really do think it should slow down now, no-one is really getting a chance to test everything properly before leaping onto the next one.

I arrived at linux too late for the 2.4 launch - were the changes this quick on that one?

Love6 compile dies on rage128 frame buffer for me, on two comps. Compiles and runs like a dream without the aty128fb. But my desktop needs this, It can't do veasfb for some reason, I get very pretty but usless screens, but thats besides the point.

Anyone got ati128fb co compile in?

error i get is
Quote:

CC drivers/video/aty/aty128fb.o
rivers/video/aty/aty128fb.c: In function `aty128_init':
rivers/video/aty/aty128fb.c.1859: error: `dev' undeclared (first use in this function)
<snip>
make[3]: ***[drivers/video/aty/aty128fb.o] Error 1

Config can be found here http://anferny.ath.cx/.config

[ot] p.s. how do you use the "url" thing in posts?

I can't get love 6 to boot past this:
Code:

ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
hda: max request size: 128KiB
hda: 78140160 sectors (40007 MB), CHS=65535/16/63, UDMA(100)
 hda:

It's crapping on reading the partitons on my HD. 2.6.2-rc2-love4 has no problems reading the partitions.

Damn, what is with all these kernels?!?!?! It's an update ever other day hahaha. And I had a friend who said Gentoo wasn't bleeding-edge.....

Hmmm, I was asking about supermount cause someone told me to get the patch for it because I want my CDRoms to mount and umount when I take CD's in and out. If anyone has any tips on this, I would appreciate them greatly.

Also, not the best place to ask, but My DRI isn't working, is there a kernel module for such?

So let me guess, tomorrow we will have Love 2.6.4-R1? We need a program that updates this daily :P

@Bague
you can get supermount in my patchset, which is actually a patchset to this patchset, you can get it here. for the dri question i need a link to your .config file and what video card you have, and if you want the latest loves, you can use rsync on my server which has the latest loves as soon as i discover them predigested, the command i use is rsync --recursive --verbose --ignore-existing rsync://rsync.andrewnelson.org/loveebuilds /usr/local/portage, you can put it in a cron job if you want.

Hmmmm, does evil update with love? Also, when I try to manually mount a music cdrom in my first drive, it says

"mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdroms/cdrom0,
or too many mounted file systems"

As far as my .config file, how should I send it? I COULD copy/paste, but that would be huge...

nevynxxx..

I think that your aty128fb.c compile error is my fault :roll:

I had to hand apply the fb_sysfs_udev.patch inorder to get a patch that worked, and I misstyped at least one line

in drivers/video/aty/aty128fb.c

find
if (register_framebuffer(info, &pdev-dev) < 0)
chande to
if (register_framebuffer(info, &pdev->dev) < 0)

I hope that takes care of it

edit.
fixed the new one here
http://home.insightbb.com/~g.rude/Linux_patches/fb_sysfs_udev.patch

You don't mount music CDs, just point your player program to the /dev node for the drive and it'll play from there.

If you've got some webspace, upload it there.

As far as DRI and my .config file, I made a new thread for it, so please go here and check it out.

Hrm, packet cdrw seems to be broken. I formatted a disc, set up the packet block device, and got an oops on mounting. D'oh! OTOH it seems ok aside from that particular feature.

Anyone tried to get cd-mrw patches to work at all? The most recent one I was able to turn up was this. I'll need to de-HTML it before I can try it out. Inlining patches makes them hell to grab out of web archives :-/

Has someone a running 2.6.3-love6 patch with bootsplash option active running?
I have here a

LD .tmp_vmlinux1
drivers/built-in.o(.text+0xa8092): In function `splash_getraw':
: undefined reference to `con2fb_map'
drivers/built-in.o(.text+0xa8894): In function `splash_verbose':

drivers/built-in.o(.text+0xa9085): In function `splash_write_proc':

Error..

Has someone a idea?
Without Bootsplash active it seems to compile fine.

Well since the *edit* vesa *edit* driver seems to work with no noticable diffrence from what I had before, I might as well leave it as it is. Will try the compile if I get a minute later....if I do I'll get back to you, otherwise next time will be with the next love release.

Thanks anyway.

I just had this.

Try setting graphics console support to Y rather than M
