Hi guys, from what i understand, emerge only sees the instance of the portage tree that was created after the last time #emerge rsync was run. so if a certain package has been updated on the gentoo server, my emerge won't see it untill i do emerge rsync. is that true? |

that means i have to do emerge rysnc before every package install to make sure im installing the latest available version.
wouldn't be better from design perspective if emerge check the packages directly on the server so that when updates are applied all the users see them at the same time. that would also save the redundant bandwidth used by emerge rsync. don't you think? |
