Hello everyone, I ready to purchase a new Athalon 64 motherboard this weekend and wanted to get some opinions on which is a decent MB to buy. This one looks very promising http://www.gen-x-pc.com/mobo_K8NHAP.htm <p>

About the only requirement I have is using the Nvidia nforce3 chipset instead of the VIA one. From everything I've read, The single chip solution is better than the old Northgate - Southgate configuration. Which MB's do you have and how do you like them ?

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, buy a k8t800 board or wait for the new nforce 3. I have a asus K8V Deluxe and no problems with it.

I agree k8t800 is best bet if you are unwilling to wait.
Unless you have brass balls and want to give SIS775 a go.
But I would'nt touch a elitegroup mainboard with a 10 foot pole...
Asus k8N-E
DROOL.....

Hey, my old ecs k7s5a was rock solid 8)

Anywho, I've seen one or two of my friends around having issues with nForce3 mobo's....don't quite remember what the problems were but both weren't too happy for a while. Personally I use the MSI-K8T800-Neo-FS2R (man thats a mouthfull) and it works great. You should probably either wait for the new nForce3's if you really want to go that route or just buy something with the K8T800.

Thanks everyone 8)

I'll wait and see what the specs are (and reviews) for the nforce 250. But it's great to see so many enjoying the k8t800. It's hard to wait --hehe-- when you have the money and want it now.

You are sooooo right.... I have to wait and buy my system one piece at a time... I have a motherboard (Tyan Thunder K8W) and a case.. next up will be the power supply and water cooling kit, then the 1st processor and some RAM, then the month after will be the second processor and more RAM....

I figure I can load an OS on the box in late april

*Sigh*

Dude, that's more torture than sexual impotence. Owning it but not being able to use it sucks big time ;-).

I'm gonna wait for some months, and then get the stuff that is currently high end for half the price. At least that's the plan ;-) But plan B is becoming more and more tempting (that is, buying it RIGHT NOW!) Money is not everything, PERFORMANCE is!

Ahh Grasshopper,
You will learn that the mortgage bank takes precedence over your wanton lusts for speed and raw power.....
