| It was not deleted; it was split and sent to the Dustbin, and a private message was sent as a warning, with the hope that this could be handled quietly. I will now say in public: mrbassie, please stay on-topic. Your proposed hand fan/gust system (note: Dustbin read privilege required for that link) made no sense, was not applicable to any apparent question, and provoked a complaint because it was the latest in a series of posts that are neither helpful nor seeking help from others. The Gentoo Chat forum is, as the name says, a chat forum rather than strictly a support forum. However, even posts in chat need to follow the basic forum rules, in particular rule 1 sub-bullet No "senseless" posts. and rule 9. yaslam's comment about energy efficiency is a reasonable one about which people could discuss or disagree. From re-reading your fan/gust system now, it's not clear to me that anyone would ever build such a system except as an elaborate joke, and it neither agrees nor disagrees with yaslam's comment. |

It may seem energy-inefficient because of compilation, but that’s a shallow take.
Gentoo isn’t about compiling all the time — it’s about compiling once, efficiently, and running lean for the long haul.
Most of these “energy waste” complaints come from people who act like Gentoo users do nothing but compile packages all day — maybe because that’s all they do. The rest of us are actually getting work done on systems tailored to our needs. |
