there are 2 versions of the live cd.
on the news post it says
Quote: | a new "live" bootable CD that boots directly into a runtime version of Gentoo Linux 1.4_rc1. Includes KDE 3.0.3, KDE 3.1-beta1, KOffice 1.2, OpenOffice 1.0.1, GNOME 2.0.1 (2.0.2 on the way) and Mozilla 1.0 (1.1 available for testing.) |
that looks very nice, and i would definitly want that, but the ut2003 cd looks interesting too. if the ut2003 cd also has this feature that would be extra nice, but if i can only get that on the non ut2003 cd, i would rather have that than just ut2003. basically what i want to know is if the ut2003 version is the same as the livecd-basic with the ut2003 demo on it.
livecd-basic-1.4_rc1-r2.iso
livecd-ut2003-x86-1.4_rc1-r1.iso |

doesnt seem given the size of the cd'd that they would have too much on them...ut2k3 was 100megs by itself i think when i downloaded the demo |

I tried out the UT2003 LiveCD and it is definitly not
Quote: | a new "live" bootable CD that boots directly into a runtime version of Gentoo Linux 1.4_rc1. Includes KDE 3.0.3, KDE 3.1-beta1, KOffice 1.2, OpenOffice 1.0.1, GNOME 2.0.1 (2.0.2 on the way) and Mozilla 1.0 (1.1 available for testing.) |
combined with UT2003. Its barebones.
Also:
1. I had major X problems where their x-setup script used the wrong BusID for my video card. An odd problem that I had never seen previously (video card == GeForce2MX)
2. I wasn't impressed with the way it worked. Not to knock Gentoo, but I was expecting it to be more of a hook for windows users, and I dont think your everyday windows gamer would choose this over anything.
3. However, this does have potential to be something usefull, and is a great start. _________________ - Joseph Monti
