Hello,

I'm working on a new laptop install, and I can't seem to figure out why I have no terminal scrolling with Shift+PgUp. The keys seem to work just fine as pressing them without shift will call from bash history, but I can't get any type of scrolling when combining with shift.

Any thoughts regarding where to start troubleshooting?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Nathan Zachary

If you're talking of the normal terminal rather than a graphical one and using kernel 5.9.x, that's likely because it removed support.

Doesn't work for me anymore either on efifb, I'd suggest using tmux, screen, or similar to get a scrollback buffer.

Wow, thank you for the link; I'm not sure how I missed that announcement. Sad, really, but I guess I understand the rationale for it.

Cheers,

I extensively used shift PgUp in Linux console.
My strong vote to reintroduce this option. It is very useful with a text-based Gentoo

Alan Mackenzie wrote some mails on our mailing list titled "Soft scrolling on framebuffer consoles - with GPM handling" with a patch:
https://www.mail-archive.com/gentoo-user@lists.gentoo.org/msg191330.html

The version for kernel 6.6. I have found here:
