i tried to explode the opus pkg
./configure
make
make check

these steps do it this way passed

that means to me the problem lies in between meson and ninja

i don't know why people nowadays like meson and ninja anyway

how to solve that?
any hint?

i cannot locate or get verbose around ninja subcommand failed information
:oops:

Have you tried to compile with -O2 instead of -O3?

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/GCC_optimization#-O

Quote:
Compiling with -O3 is likely to improve performance (although not guaranteed). While historically -O3 could expose compiler bugs, nowadays issues with -O3 are almost always instances of undefined behavior (UB) and the code is at fault and should be fixed. Some packages are still known-broken with -O3. Using -O3 is not recommended unless running test suites for packages.

It's not a upstream problem. The problem is the optimization used by you. Read the link posted by banana.

Code:

COMMON_FLAGS="-O3 -march=native -mtune=native -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe"
CFLAGS="${COMMON_FLAGS}"
CXXFLAGS="${COMMON_FLAGS}"
FCFLAGS="${COMMON_FLAGS}"
FFLAGS="${COMMON_FLAGS}"

i tried several rounds to compile opus alone (not that time consuming as is)
i eliminate one option at a time from the tail
O3 works
but not any native

so......my question is........is it possible to make a specific cflags for that super special opus package?
:oops: :cry:

Yes with package.env.

yup....package.env works......
but when specific env works it magical way..........em.......it's not verbose in the build.log.......
i mean some day i forgot this special env for opus.......that i have to troubleshoot again....

is there any special way to keep remebering the portage different custom settings in verbose/one-go?

i mean the specific custom thing being verbose so that i can release my brain to remember anything special....

:oops: :cry: :roll:

I see some references in this thread to verbose build, but I do not see where you did anything to cause it to be verbose. What did you do the first time? Do that again, with package.env.

i mean the build.log file contains my specific package.env for that certain pkg
e.g. for this example i have to make a file called opus-cflags in /etc/portage/package.env which contains some -O3 cflags stuff in it which other pkg compile with /etc/portage/make.conf cflags

OR
does build.log contain package.env like variables already in each build.log file? i think i didn't see such lines? :roll:

I don't understand your question. package.env influences how Portage builds the package. build.log documents what was printed when the package was built. You asked for a way to save the build log. We gave you one. Saving the log, or not, does not change how the package is built.
