Anybody out there who can explain to the unwashed masses why OpenOffice does not use the QT toolkit or gnome toolkits?

OO has a "feel" about it that is sluggish, unintegrated, laboring, as if it is under and emulator.

Comments?

Moved from DE to OTW. Why someone chose a particular lib is not really a support question.

Just a guess, but, since it is based on StarOffice and Staroffice is made By sun and suns runs Solaris ans Solaris doesn't default to gnome of kde (cde iirc) that wouldn't make sense. Plus it is highly portable and ther is no gtk for winblows and qt is out of the option since a closed source app would require liscensing under the QPL which needs money, however SOffice was given away free.

And the OO guys didn't want to rewrite the whold damn UI.
