Hi,

following setup:
OS: Gentoo 2.14 x86_64 (updated on a daily basis)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER
RAN: 32GiB
Kernel: 6.7.9 (vanilla)
Driver: x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-550.54.14

I am using Blender, wezterm, neovim
wezterm uses opengl and blender is using the GPU massively.

Since some time (two weeks?) the system's graphic freezes sporadically.
Blender does not react to mouse clicks for a second or two, neovim (started
from inside wezterm) freezes for about the same periods.

In the X11 log I find a lot of this messages:

Unfortunately I cannot "decode" their meaning...

HP LP2475w is my monitor.

How can I fix these freezes?

Hi,

did you installed any new or old hardware into this computer about two weeks ago ?

I had a problem like that, but only on Windows 10, because the SSD wasn't… compatible with Windows 10. Not saying you have the same problem, but just asking but new RAM, hard disk or such.

Maybe your SSD needs a firmware update…

---

Another thing you can try, is maybe a memtest. I do not think it's related, but I guess faulty RAM could do that kind of stuff.

---

Finally, you can maybe try the nouveau driver instead of nvidia, for testing purpose. Maybe it's a GPU driver issue.

---

Almost forgot to ask, what is your desktop environment ?

Regards,
GASPARD DE RENEFORT Kévin

Hi,

thanks for your reply ! :)

The hardware was not changed.
I downgraded the nvidia-driver a couple of stages and the problem does not went away.
My desktop environment is quite simple:
X11, openbox, tint2.
That' it. :)

In the meanwhile I found this:
https://egpu.io/forums/thunderbolt-linux-setup/external-display-keeps-connecting-disconnecting/

But the suggested fix does not help. Nothing changed.

When I will have some news, I will report here.

Cheers!
:)
