PostPosted: Sat Feb 10, 2024 5:21 pm    Post subject: [solved] CUPS - No such file or folder Reply with quote

Hi,

I have an Epson L3251 printer for 6 month now. I installed it on my Gentoo box with no problem, but for a couple of month now, I always end up with the following message:
Quote:
Failed to complete the request: 'No such file or folder'

I tried to reinstall the printed, but nothing.
The printer is connected via WiFi, but I am sure it is communicating correctly, because it is seen by CUPS when adding it, and I can scan document with no problem (it is a multifunctional printer)

I have the latest Epson drivers installed
Code:
emerge epson-inkjet-printer-escpr -p
...
[ebuild   R    ] net-print/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.8.4::gentoo  0 KiB

Here is my CUPS log:

And since this week, when adding the printer, I have the following message I did not had before:
Quote:
Could not find the recommended driver: 'Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/system-config-printer/scp-dbus-service.py", line 172, in _ppds_ready
ppdname = ppdnamelist[0]
~~~~~~~~~~~^^^
TypeError: 'dict_keys' object is not subscriptable
'
Does anyone has some clue on what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance for all the help,
Quick guess I may be wrong, there was a recent news item:
Code:
2023-11-20  CUPS no longer directly depends on its filters
Hi,
Yes, because I tried several times to remove my printer, and then add it again.
But it did not changed anything.
I'm missing how this is related to the news item... could you confirm you read the news item and followed it?
Hi,
Yes, I have read it, and cups-meta was already installed. Here is the result of my merge:
Code:
emerge cups-meta -p
[ebuild   R    ] net-print/cups-meta-1::gentoo  USE="browsed foomatic pdf poppler postscript zeroconf" 0 KiB
I tried to remove it (with all its dependencies), then reinstall it today, and now I have the following error message (all config type):
Quote:
Unsupported format "text/plain".
I also had the following message during the printer addition, but this is normal, since it it linked to the news you've pointed out (DNSSD and PASSTHRU config):
Quote:
Note:Printer drivers and raw queues are deprecated and will stop working in a future version of CUPS.
So I went deeper, and deleted cups itself, then reinstalled it. Then it started working
Thanks, and sorry for the rooky mistake...
