|
|
I just get the following when booting and nothing happens:
Code: |
EFI stub: WARNING: [Firmware Bug]: LoadOptions is an EFI_LOAD_OPTION descriptor
EFI stub: WARNING: [Firmware Bug]: Using OptionalData as a workaround
|
I suspect I have a frame buffer issue, but I cant figure out which driver I should be using. I tired enabling CONFIG_FB_EFI and the other "safe" frame buffers outlined in the https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Framebuffer guide. The best I can get to is a black screen after the initial warnings show up. That seems to happen after randomly enabling Intel related graphics drivers. I have no idea which intel driver I should enable or what firmware to use. I just guessed and used the i915/skl_dmc_ver1_27.bin firmware and I doubt that was correct so that could be my issue. The guide doesn't really do a good job at letting you know how to choose the correct firmware. Any one have any ideas?
Code: |
# lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 630 (rev 04)
|
Code: |
# dmesg | grep fb0
[ 0.283739] fb0: EFI VGA frame buffer device

Turns out I was missing CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE, added that and it seems to work now. |
