Hello @all
Ich habe das Problem das der aktuelle nvidia-drivers nicht mit dem Kernel 6.7.3 (gentoo-sources) kompiliert, hier erstmal das build.log:

Ich habe einen Bug gefunden der dieses Problem mit dem 6.8-rc1 Kernel beschreibt und dort ist auch ein Kernel Patch enthalten. Diesen kann ich aber nicht wirklich sauber beim Kernel 6.7.3 anwenden.

Sollte ich deswegen einen Bug aufmachen oder kann das Problem anderweitig gelöst werden ?

Ich habe dasselbe Problem eben erlebt.
Die build.log ist irrsinnig lang, da bin ich erleichtert, daß du sie schon eingeladen hast.
Nun bin ich auch sehr gespannt, ob eine Lösung in Aussicht steht.

Was ich gerade noch entdeckt habe:
Im /boot-Verzeichnis fehlt initramfs.
Ich habe die gentoo-sources mit genkernel --install all versehen.
Nun ist da noch ein weiteres Problem.

Vielen Dank für den Hinweis.
Nun ist für mich klar geworden, daß einen Schritt zu schnell vollzogen habe.
Die letzten gentoo-sources haben noch gut funktioniert, aber der Nachfolger scheitert.
Ich nehme das erst einmal hin, denn wir befinden uns in unstable, das sagt ja schon einiges. 
Irgendwie wirkt das wie ein Streit zwischen Bruder und Schwester.

Kurzer Nachtrag;
Weil ich dieses unstable mit dem merkwürdigen Fehlen von initramfs nicht mehr neu starten könnte,
habe ich mir von einem anderen unstable einfach den vorherigen Kernel, l/lib/modules und /usr/src
herüberkopiert und bin problemlos wieder auf dem Desktop gelandet.
Nun warte ich einfach ab, bis eine Lösung kommt.
Alle anderen unstable-Systeme werde ich vorläufig in Ruhe lassen.

Das liegt am sinnlosen rumgemurkse in den Gentoo-Sourcen. Mit dem Original-Kernel gibt es das Problem nicht.

Zum Glück habe ich gentoo-sources nur auf meinem PC.
Auf keinen Fall auf meinem Acer Nitro 5 und Acer Aspire.
Pause: unstable mit gentoo-sources!!!

Und mit den AMD/Intel-Treibern gibt es auch noch ein Paradebeispiel wie es von Nvidia richtig gemacht werden könnte, die Treiber werden vom Hersteller gepflegt und sind trotzdem im Kernel.
Auch lustig/peinlich (wie man es nehmen will) sind die Ausreden von Nvidia warum sie es anders machen. Je nach Wetterlage heißt es sie hätten noch fremden Code im Treiber (den sie nicht veröffentlichen dürfen) und abreiten daran diesen durch eigenen zu ersetzen oder die Entwicklung außerhalb des Kernels würde es ihnen ermöglichen das vergleichsweise beste Ergebnis abzuliefern...

Hallo zusammen!
Neue Erfahrung: eben habe ich gentoo-unstable aktualisiert. gentoo-sources 6.7.3 wurden installiert.
Danach: eselect kernel list
eselect kernel set 2
genkernel --install all
Was ich danach immer wieder gemacht habe:
emerge --ask depclean
emerge --ask @module-rebuild
Letzteres emerge --ask @module-rebuild musste ich heute nicht mehr tun.
Grund: ich schaue kurz nach /lib/modules und sehe sehr überrascht, daß bereits /video integriert ist.
So habe ich es bisher nie erlebt.
Umso mehr freut es mich, daß nicht wieder nvidia-drivers bei der Installation scheitert.
Fazit: Sehr gut diese neue Lösung.

Frage;
Interpretiere ich genkernel-Prozess richtig?: genkernel braucht lange, um modules zusammenzusuchen,
u.a. auch /lib/modules/video (Inhalt: nvidia)
Damit ist das Problem mit den nvidia-drivers gelöst - so meine Ansicht.
Nur bei einer NeuInstallation gibt es dieses Problem noch.

Übrigens:
Bei einer Neuinstallation von gentoo (egal ob stable oder unstable) würde ich zuvor von einem schon bestehenden System
/boot /lib/modules und /usr/src herüberkopieren.
Grund: wenn gekernel so sorgfältig die Module zusammenstellt, dann würde auch in diesem Fall
emerge --ask @module-rebuild nicht mehr notwendig sein - so meine Überzeugung.
OB es wirklich funktioniert, stelle ich mal dahin. Eines Tages werde ich es testen.
Oder habe ich in der Vergangenheit nicht genügend nachgeschaut und daher bei einem Update von gentoo-sources und genkernel
emerge --ask @module-rebuild völlig überflüssig getan? ich bin mir weder in der einen wie in der anderen Frage völlig unsicher.....

Auf meinem Acer Nitro 5 Notebook habe ich eben gentoo-kernel-bin aktualisieren müssen: 6.7.3.
Hier kommt auch immer emerge --ask --depclean und emerge --ask @module-rebuild.

Ich war vorher noch etwas unruhig, ob es hier möglicherweise auch den Fehler gibt.

bei gentoo-kernel und gentoo-kernel-bin sollte vermutlich auch das dist-kernel useflag gut funktionieren, siehe zb via | Code: | equery uses nvidia-drivers
dist-kernel : Enable subslot rebuilds on Distribution Kernel upgrades |
Setze das am besten global für alle Pakete (in der make.conf), dann kannst dir den @module-rebuild sparen. |

Dass Nvidia die Treiber außerhalb des Kernels pflegt, ist natürlich Mist. Es gibt aber leider keine brauchbare Alternative zu CUDA.
Auf meinen fünf Rechnern mit Nvidia-Karten und Original-Kernel (per git aktuell gehalten), kompiliert nvidia-drivers-545.29.06-r1 fehlerfrei. Wenn es mit den gentoo-sources nicht klappt, liegt es offensichtlich an den Patches. Wenn die Patches gut und sinnvoll sind, warum wurden sie nicht eingereicht und in den Kernel integriert? 6.7.3 ist stable, da muss nichts gepatcht werden.

ja, sollte jetzt funktionieren - gestern gab es einen "workaround-fix" bei den nvidia-drivers Paketen, siehe https://bugs.gentoo.org/923456#c23
(und nochmal - es gibt hier kein Problem mit den gentoo-sources :) |

@Josef.95: ging bei mir gestern Mittag auch schon, aber egal, ich verwende die gentoo-sources ja ohnehin nicht.
Hatte völlig verdrängt, dass es auch einen Open-Source-Treiber gibt (USE-Flag "kernel-open"), der funktioniert auch. Bisher habe ich keine Probleme bemerkt, die Geschwindigkeit ist bei meinen Stable-Diffusion Benchmark-Bildern deutlich höher. Version 550.40.07 läuft jetzt auch mit Kernel 6.8.0-rc2.

Hallo zusammen!
Ich habe heute nachmittag begonnen, gentoo-unstable mit gentoo-sources zu installieren.
Das System ist noch ganz am Anfang:
gentoo-sources sind installiert, genkernel --install all
Danach grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Das Ergebnis in den BootManager von PCLinuxOS übertragen.
Ich wollte nämlich versuchen, ob es auf level 3 gelingt, mit der Installation fortzufahren.
Vorher natürlich noch nvidia-drivers (mit Erfolg) installiert.
root- und user-Passwort.
Leider muss ich wieder in der chroot-Umgebung weitermachen - aber erst morgen wieder.
Denn Internet war nicht zu erreichen - obwohl auf dem PC Kabel-Internet ist.
Aber networkmanager war noch nicht installiert.
Dass diesmal der nvidia-driver ohne Probleme installiert werden konnte, war schon toll!!!
