Cannot start X after emerge kde-3.1_beta1

After 3 days of hard works, my Gentoo 1.4 RC1 is up and running.

First of all, I successfully emerged xfree-3.2.1. After running xf86config (are there any better x-config utils?), I can startx with the default twm.

Then I emerge the kde-3.1_beta1 and succeed.

However, when I run startx again, X is aborted with the following error occur:

"Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/, removing from list!"

Would anyone please help?

This is the first time for me having a dedicated machine to use as a Linux Desktop.

check if that path is in the XF86Config file which place in /etc/X11 and if it's ther try put # before the line and see if startx work.

After you have emerged kde3.1 try to log out and back in.
Perhaps even reboot to be on the safe side.

Try to start kde/xfree with "kdm" and see what happens
(just type kdm where you would normally startx)
