Hey guys/gals,

I'm installing gentoo on my laptop and I'm having issues at startup, its just stuck on Loading Linux... I've been trying for 2 weeks now reading through all the forums and trying everything y'all have already tried in the past. I have tried the prebuilt kernel and genkernel as well already. I'm sure it's probably just a simple mistake but hopefully someone can help me out.

here is my .config

here is my lspci -nnk

Please try to disable: CONFIG_SYSFB_SIMPLEFB=y
Code:
Device Drivers  --->
    Firmware Drivers  --->
        [ ] Mark VGA/VBE/EFI FB as generic system framebuffer

(all other settings for frambuffer are correct; see also my article:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/User:Pietinger/Tutorials/Manual_Configuring_Kernel_Version_6.1#Part_3_-_Must_Haves )

If this does not help, please check if you boot the kernel you think you boot.

ok so I guess I installed from the x86 tarball instead of the amd64 tarball. after reinstalling with the amd64 setup and followed this wiki

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Framework_Laptop#Freezing_with_6.4_series_kernels

I have gotten past the loading initial ramdisk... screen. Now I am getting this error

I guess you are using grub as bootmanager. Grub starts your kernel TOGETHER with an initramfs (generated from dracut). Is this what you want ?

Maybe it is a result of your tryings with different kernels and ALSO our dist-kernel - which is a kernel with associated initramfs.

Maybe read this short article AND also the linked post:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/User:Pietinger/Tutorials/Confusion_with_root%3DPARTUUID%3D_and_root%3DUUID%3D

What I always recommend when installing a new Gentoo system:

First install only our dist-kernel because you should have no problems with it - even if you want to manually configure your kernel. But this you can do as a second step ... AND you have then already a backup-kernel (=dist-kernel) if your manually configured kernel doesnt work.

Maybe read also:

Ok so I managed to get it too boot finally. I had to add

Code:
Processor type and features --->
[*] Built-in kernel command line
(root=/dev/nvme0n1p7 rootfstype=ext4)

to the kernel.
