Hi, is there a way to isolate private tabs/windows in current firefox? There was a "Per-window Private Browsing" feature implemented in ancient version 20, but as I have found out, cookies are still shared. I like to open my gmail in private window, but I am afraid that, having cookies shared largely defeats purpose of private browsing if I open any other pages in private window. |

No idea about window isolation, but I do know that firefox has profiles, which is basically a support for multiple configs and identities.
Just launch it as firefox -P |

You may also want to look at Container Tabs. This provides cookie-isolation, without providing extension-isolation. This is useful if you have a favorite set of extensions that you want always available. Unlike private browsing, Container Tabs cookies can persist across restarts. However, if you have a container that is only used for GMail, and your only use of private browsing was to isolate your Google cookies from other cookies, this may be acceptable. |

Thanks, Any idea why I had to install Multi-Account Containers for "Enable Firefox containers" to appear in settings as per this article? After I have removed that extension "Enable Firefox containers" disapeared again, but it seems to stick enabled.
EDIT:
Maybe I should read that article first, still strange though...
Code: | Note: To use Firefox containers, you must first install the Multi-Account Containers extension developed by Mozilla. For more information, see the Multi-Account Containers article. |

Is the fact that I was able to uninstall extension but keep containers enabled some kind of glitch? What part of functionality provided by extension and what is built in? Why is there dependency on extension? |
