Just for information.

I am on a limited data plan.
Therefore i download packages by hand and do updates in small batches.

Between two cold boots today my box was screwed over.

When I update this package
[ebuild U ] sys-apps/kmod-31::gentoo [30-r1::gentoo] USE="lzma python (tools) zlib zstd -debug -doc -pkcs7 -static-libs" PYTHON_TARGETS="python3_10 python3_11" 0 KiB
my box looses the functionality for
i am dropped to the Bash, not the X-Server
/etc/init.d wpa.supplicant restart -> nothing / no network
/etc/init.d displaymanager restart -> according to less /var/log/Xorg.0.log no monitors found.

Therefore no internet and no X-Server
There are no nodes for wlan or graphic cards.

I could narrow it down to this package only with the /var/log/emerge.log and the human readable timestamps.

Just for information, what I need to download and install:
Code:

Sienna_Cichlid /home/roman # emerge -pv --update --deep -N world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
