Dears, I see here https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/net-analyzer/telegraf that William is not maintaining Telegraf for a while now - can I ask you to reassign it to someone else? There is already 1.26 version available and in Gentoo we are still limited to 1.18... |

Yes - and that bug is very old now - I have looked at other things maintained by William and maybe he just stopped to support gentoo actively some time ago. Would be worth to reassign his responsibilities to someone more active. |

Developers don't "get assigned to" packages, they assign themselves if interested. |

Understood - however still I assume interest in telegraf is lost for the moment |

If William is not interested in maintaining it, then someone who wants to see it updated needs to find a Gentoo maintainer who will take on maintaining it, whether due to a personal stake or as a service to the community. If you are lucky, some other currently active Gentoo maintainer will want telegraf to be well-maintained, and will volunteer to take it over. If not, then it will languish until someone wants to volunteer. |

However, williamh is still listed in net-analyzer/telegraf's metadata.xml, instead of the package being marked as "maintainer wanted". Maybe ping him by e-mail / IRC? Or go through the proxy maintainers channels? _________________

I tried via mail already - no response. Change you are suggesting seems to be valid to me - maybe on other packages maintained by William too as most of them have similar issue.. |
