|
|
Hi,
I am using Ardour since version 1 but up to now with jack only. Since I migrated to Pulse/pipewire it seems to work pretty good with pulse(pipewire) as well. But I did not figure our how to route the input channel from the pipwire framework to a recording track from Ardour. Is that even possible?
Using it for cutting sessions where you just monitoring is already a convenient alternative but it would be nice if you could record with just one mono input channel.
Thanks

I guess there is no way to record with pipewire. No prolbem, I will then just switch to jack on demand. _________________ Desktop AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 32GB RAM, Asus GF GTX 1060.

Works fine here.
Too little time for details.
Try to install helvum from overlays (9999 is fine here) as a patchbay interface for pipewire.
Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support. _________________ USE="-* ..." in /etc/portage/make.conf here.

Thanks for that hint, I tried to install helvum but it failed during compilation. I did not investigate further and did not try to fix it. _________________ Desktop AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 32GB RAM, Asus GF GTX 1060.

I tried helvum-0.3.4-r2 from the guru overlay. To explain the error in detail I will have to recreate the issue again. I would do it if you are interested. _________________ Desktop AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 32GB RAM, Asus GF GTX 1060.

I tried qpwgraph, this works well for me so far:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/rncbc/qpwgraph
from the "guru" overlay _________________ Desktop AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 32GB RAM, Asus GF GTX 1060.

Neverthless, I don´t get Ardour to record any audio source. The problem is, that Ardour doesn´t show any audio input, which I could potentially connect to any other output source. Therefore the qpwgraph does not help here. I tried to open a record track and activated the record button but in the graphical overview Ardour is shown with two output connectors only.
So I have to switch to jack. That does not matter in general but for small project or if you want to record a source from your system I would make sense to stick to pipewire. _________________ Desktop AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 32GB RAM, Asus GF GTX 1060.
