Hi, I am using a NerdFont, and until a few days ago my computer displayed all unicode character properly. But now, it does not.
The only things that changed is that I emerged gui-wm/hyprland, gui-apps/waybar, and I moved my sound installation under pipewire. All in all, nothing that should impact the unicode characters.

Some information about my system:
    I tried to view some unicode character (like 한글 or 中文) in four differents applications (namely kde-apps/dolphin, kde-apps/kcharselect, x11-terms/kitty, and www-client/firefox-bin) using each time three NerdFonts (media-fonts/firacode-nerdfont, media-fonts/iosevka-nerdfont, and media-fonts/jetbrainsmono-nerdfont), but none of them showed the characters, only boxes.
    Something strange is that other character like ꂒ, ⁂, ䷈, or ᡄ are displayed properly.
    My computer is configured to work with unicode using utf-8:
    Code:
    $ locale -a
    C
    C.utf8
    en_GB.utf8
    en_US.utf8
    fr_FR.utf8
    POSIX
    zh_CN.utf8

    $ locale
    LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
    LC_CTYPE="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_TIME="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_COLLATE="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_MONETARY=fr_FR.UTF-8
    LC_MESSAGES="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_PAPER="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_NAME=fr_FR.UTF-8
    LC_ADDRESS="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_TELEPHONE=fr_FR.UTF-8
    LC_MEASUREMENT=C
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_GB.UTF-8"
    LC_ALL=

If you have ideas on how to solve this issue, I am all ears.

Just to clarify, have you now started using Hyprland, or did you merely install it? If you're now using it, what were you using before Hyprland?

Okay. Do the merge logs (e.g. as shown by `genlop -l`; app-portage/genlop if you've not already installed it) show any other updates around the time you installed Hyprland?

I am sure that on the 18th of May I could see unicode character. On the 19th I found I was not able to see unicode character, so I redownloaded the NerdFonts.
On the 20th I removed waybar and hyprland to see if for some reason the problem was caused by that.
It was not, so I installed them again on the 21th, along with reinstalling kitty, testing on alacritty, removing the activities flag, and updating some packages.

I do not know if that can help other people coming here, but I forced the reinstall of media-fonts/noto-cjk and now my differents fonts works

Don't know why because I did not use noto and didn't change the USE flag of it, but at least now it works.
