I couldn't connect to ntopng server version 5.6-r1 (latest). It seems that this problem is known since it reports a warning in the ebuild. Going back to version 5.2-r1 it works perfectly. Is there a solution to solve this problem to revert to the most recent version ?
Thanks in advance |

What warning is this? The only message I see in the ebuild is a recap of the default credentials, but it makes no mention of known issues. Generally, if an issue is known and a solution is available, it would be documented in the ebuild, or result in a package mask if the issue was severe. |

Yes, but that note is there to explain why assets are handled that way. It doesn't mean it's a known issue in the sense of "it should still be broken".
Please file a new bug if it's still not working. |

To me, a warning typically means text that the ebuild prints to the user when the ebuild is used in a standard way. Comments in the ebuild are not warnings unless they very explicitly state that they are warnings. As sam_ says, this is just advice to anyone who works on the ebuild. |

I solved my problem badly, but it works and confirms that the ebuild is badly built.
I compiled directly the version available on the github repository.
The origin of the problem comes from the fact that the httpdocs has been moved from version 5.4.
The autogen.sh script from the git repository manages it. Not the ebuild.
then simply launch the service with the --httpdocs-[root of ntopng]/httpdocs option.
I don't know how to write ebuilds (I haven't tried) but it shouldn't be difficult to make this operational for the next version.
Problem solved for me. |

Bug 894152 (resolved) is exactly that. But I'm sorry I have strictly the same bug with the updated ntopng-5.6-r1.ebuild.
Obviously the commit added a link to +SRC_URI+=" https://github.com/ntop/ntopng-dist/archive/${NTOPNG_DIST_COMMIT}.tar.gz -> ${P}-web-${NTOPNG_DIST_COMMIT}. tar.gz"
Are we sure that this github repository is still active? |

That bug is from back in February. sam_ told you to file a new bug if this is not working. I wanted to know the number of the new bug that you filed since it is not working for you and you said the ebuild is written badly.
Whether the repository is active or not does not matter. What matters is that the archive fetched by that SRC_URI yields valid files, or not. The archive must have fetched something, because the ebuild did not fail. Whether it fetched the correct things is an open question. What is the output of equery files net-analyzer/ntopng? |
