Wie man sieht bekomme ich das Modul "ast" geladen, nur (denke ich) ist es Inkompatibel zur benutzten X-Server-Version.
Sollte ich als Neuling das richtig verstehen, könnte ich ein Downgrade der X-Server-Version machen!?

IST ein Downgrade Ratsam? Gibt es irgendeine andere Lösung die ich nicht (Er)kenne?

Für hilfe wäre ich dankbar! Bin in Linux Neuling und kann sagen (was viele vielleicht nicht mögen werden) das Debian Bullseye und Bookworm was auch immer installiert das der X-Server mit KDE funktioniert.

Und - Debian habe ich als "Notfalls-System" um per Chroot in meinem (so sind meine ambitionen) Genntoo-Arbeitstier Fehler richten zukönnen.

Welches Mainboard bzw. welchen Server hast Du?

VIDEO_CARDS ist bei Dir auf "vesa" gesetzt. Sollte dort nicht auch "ast" stehen, damit der ast Treiber installiert wird?

Die Datei "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/ast.so". Wie kommt sie dorthin? Hast Du sie über Gentoo installiert? Oder händisch von Debian rüberkopiert?

Läuft der X11 Server unter Debian? Kannst Du uns die Xorg.log von dort zeigen?

Um das aktuelle Log zeigen zu können hab ich das vorhandene gelöscht und somit neu erzeugt.

Betreffend Mainboard - kann ich nur sagen das es eins von ASUS ist mit folgenden Spezifikationen laut Bios ->
    AST 1300/2300 VGA
    AC97 Frontpanel
    Asmedia USB 3 Controller
    Intel Xeon CPU E5-2620 v2 2100 Mhz max und 1200 Mhz Min


Sorry für die wenigen Infos - ich muss den auf machen und aufs MB schauen für eine genaue Bezeichnung da ich den als gebraucht von einem Computergeschäft für 100 Euronen übernommen und noch nicht genauer mit dem Innenleben beschäftigt habe.

Betreffend Datei "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/ast.so - Weder noch, über Gentoo hab ich kein Repository bisher gefunden wo die AST-Treiber verfügbar wären und von einem anderen einfach kopieren ist meist eine schlechte Idee und somit habe ich mir die frei verfügbaren AST-DRM-Treiber / Firmware runtergeladen und dann dahin kopiert da die fertig kompiliert sein sollen.

VIDEO_Cards auf Vesa statt ast - sollte auf ast stehen, ja! Da das nicht funktionierte dachte ich das wenn ich auf Vesa setze ich X-Server ans laufen bekomme da ich einen Universal-Treiber nutze.

Gedownloadete Treiber - sind laut dem Archiv-Inhalt mit xorg78_7 gekennzeichnet weshalb ich davon ausgehe das meine Xorg-Version vielleicht zu neu ist!?

Früher spielte ich mit einem Gaming-Clan-Kumpel der mich neugierig auf Gentoo machte und an Gentoo mitgearbeitet hat, falls ich es so ausdrücken darf und mal den Namen wecklasse (manchmal stösst man da auf gegenliebe was nicht hierher gehört meiner Meinung nach) da er ende letzten Jahres vom Gentoo-Team warum auch immer aussortiert wurde. und wir uns auch komplett aus den Augen verloren haben.

Für die suche nach pakten von lokal aktiven gentoo repositories (ähnlich apt-cache) kann ich dir app-portage/eix empfehlen

also, hab folgendes umgesetzt...

VIDEO_CARDS - hab ich auf ast gesetzt und weiter oben war es tatsächlich nur ein Schreibfehler :-)
x11-drivers/xf86-video-ast - habe die Treiber aus /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers gelöscht und die x11-drivers/xf86-video-ast gemerged

Der X-Server startet noch immer nicht, lädt aber die AST-Treiber wobei er irgendwas von Kernelmodul sagt, daher die neue Xorg.0.log

Dadurch braucht es den xorg ast video treiber nicht mehr aber dafür den modesetting treiber

@fndark: bei vielen Grafikkarten kann man den Grafikmodus über zwei Arten setzen:
  1. über einen eigenen Treiber

  2. über Modesetting im Kernel
Man muss sich für einen Weg entscheiden, wobei Modesetting in vielen Fällen der neuere und bessere Weg ist.

Deine Debian Log-Datei zeigt, dass Modesetting verwendet wird.

Bei Dir hat es im ersten Versuch nicht funktioniert, weil Du von Hand eine eine veraltete Version des AST Treibers installiert hattest.

Im zweiten Versuch hat es nicht funktioniert, weil Du den AST Treiber offenbar sowohl im Kernel, als auch als Modul installiert hattest.

Entweder musst Du den AST Treiber im Kernel deaktivieren, oder Du musst Modesetting aktivieren.

Letzteres ist der bessere Weg. Es würde dann wie unter Debian funktionieren. Ich muss allerdings selbst erst einmal recherchieren, wie es bei dem AST Chipsatz geht. Ich poste dann noch einmal.

Ich habe mir die erste Log-Datei noch einmal angeschaut.

Es könnte gut sein, dass alles in Ordnung ist und der X-Server läuft.

Das Problem ist möglicherweise, dass der Window-Manager nicht korrekt gestartet wird - und der X11 Server deshalb wieder herunterfährt.

Wenn das so ist, würden wir an der falschen Stelle suchen.

Welches Desktop Environment hast Du installiert?

Welche Anleitung hast Du verwendet, um dieses zu konfigurieren?

Wie willst Du Dein Desktop environment starten? Über "startx"? Oder direkt beim Booten über einen Login Manager?

Hi,

Das Dektop-Environment sollte KWin mit KDE-Plasma sein, wenn Du das meinst.
Im Moment versuche ich über startx zu starten, möchte später aber gern umsteigen das beim Booten ein Login-Manager gestartet wird.

Was ich jetzt mal versuche ist ein anderes Dektop-Environment zu installieren.

Dann installiere doch mal twm und xterm. Eine sehr kleine Desktop Umgebung. Ich habe twm immer installiert als Fallback und für Tests.

Schreib in Deine ~/.xinitrc

exec twm

Dann starte mit "startx". Du solltest einen komplett schwarzen Bildschirm bekommen. Drücke dann eine Maustaste (rechts oder links?) und es sollte ein Menü erscheinen. Dort kannst Du "xterm" auswählen und dann sollte ein Terminalfenster aufpoppen.

Hi und guten Abend,

Habs geschafft - habe wie gesagt einfach nach Anleitung LXDE-Meta installiert und es startet auf Anhieb!

Dennoch waere ich gl[cklich wenn ich w[sste warum KDE nicht start, aber LXDE ist mir ansich ohnehin lieber!
Nun muss ich die Tastatur lokalisieren wie man sieht :-) und andere Einstellungen machen.

Herzlichen dank an euch alle fuer eure Muehe, ich werd bei Gelegenheit nochmal schauen was da haengt bei KDE.

Gut! Das heißt aber, dass das Problem gar nicht beim X11 Server lag. Sondern dass es ein Problem beim Starten der KDE Umgebung gab bzw. gibt.

Was KDE betrifft: das ist zwar erheblich "schwergewichtiger" als twm oder lxde - aber es sollte sich trotzdem relativ leicht installieren lassen. Schau noch mal in der Anleitung, ob Du wirklich alle Schritte ausgeführt hast: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/KDE.

Für KDE, um genauer zu sein für kde plasma gibt es für X11 ein eigenes start script/programm, welches indirekt von startx gestartet werden soll.
Und zwar.
startplasma-x11
welches du in deine ~/.xinitrc einträgst ähnlich wie die exe twm sache

Hi,

wie ich weiter oben sagte - ich bleibe am KDE Plasma dran.

Ich kann leider nicht sagen wie, warum oder weshalb, ob es durch irgendein Update passiert ist - KDE Plasma läuft ohne das ich etwas geändert habe (Konfiguration, kein etc-update etc).
