Please do a full system update before adding new software as this will clear up this conflict

Yes,
Code:
emerge -avuDU @world net-im/discord-bin
should probably work.

After
Code:
 emerge -avuDU @world net-im/discord-bin

I get this error :
Code:
[blocks b      ] <x11-libs/vte-0.70.0 ("<x11-libs/vte-0.70.0" is soft blocking gui-libs/vte-common-0.70.1)

[blocks B      ] dev-util/b2 ("dev-util/b2" is soft blocking dev-util/boost-build-1.79.0-r1)

Hm, is dev-util/boost-build in your world file (/var/lib/portage/world)?
if so, then please remove it via
Code:
emerge --deselect dev-util/boost-build

If you still need help, please post the output of cat -n /var/lib/portage/world ; emerge --pretend --verbose --depclean dev-util/boost-build dev-util/b2 x11-libs/vte gui-libs/vte-common.

When you ran emerge -avuDU @world, did any updates succeed, and you now have a new problem, or did it fail out immediately with no changes?

It appears you have a new boost, and some dependency is attempting to downgrade you to an older one. Please provide the full emerge command that fails, and all the output it produces.

Please do a full system update before adding new software as this will clear up this conflict

If you had done that, you would have atk-2.46.0, not atk-2.38.0 as Portage says you currently have. Please do as grknight suggested, and update everything else before attempting to install discord-bin. If the attempt to update world fails, show us that output, including the exact emerge command issued and all the arguments to it.

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously.  If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
that will solve this conflict automatically.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

The log speaks of using package.mask to mask one of the packages so whitch should it be ? I know this is stupid question but I;m really not sure .
Thanks

Hm, strange :-/
Please post the output from
Code:
emerge -pve @world --backtrack=0
too. This should hopefully better show what the conflict is.
(best is, post this output with a paste-service, for example see https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Wgetpaste )

Code:
app-misc/hollywood
dev-ml/utop
games-arcade/ninvaders
games-fps/doomsday
games-strategy/wesnoth
Please add these selectet packages in /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords file.

Then,
Code:
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-gfx/3DSlicer".
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-gfx/printrun".
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "x11-base/xorg-x11".
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])
These packages don't exist anymore - please deselect it
Code:
emerge --deselect media-gfx/3DSlicer media-gfx/printrun x11-base/xorg-x11

Then please check the emerge output new
Code:
wgetpaste -c "emerge -pve @world --backtrack=0"

Hm yes, looks better now.
But it sounds like your removed many package.accept_keywords entries (or a package.accept_keywords file) for already installed packages?
If so, then you can try rebuild this entries with the enalyze tool from app-portage/gentoolkit package.
Please post the generated keywords file from the command
Code:
enalyze rebuild keywords

The other possibility is that OP has been using a command-line override of ACCEPT_KEYWORDS in a non-pretend mode, and allowed emerge to pull in ~arch supporting packages, rather than using package.accept_keywords to accept the specific ~arch package he wanted. That would produce the same observed results, and Josef's suggested action would be appropriate for that case too.

Hm yes, the generated package.keywords.test file looks fine, and it should probably work for the already installed ~amd64 package versions.
But, I'm not sure what is now the best,
using the already installed ~amd64 package versions,
or trying downgrade back to stable.

Oki I solved the problem by manually downgrading back to stable with ebuild and then running system-wide update. I think the problem is solved and this can be marked as resolved.
Thanks for help,

Adam
