Hello everybody,

This morning I tried to emerge firefox-105.0.2 (I'm, currently on 105.0.1) and all of a sudden it tried to pull in glslang, wlroots seatd and a few other packages (due to wayland USE flag being enable, which needs to be enabled for screencast). This is blocked by :

Code:

[blocks B      ] <app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.46.0 ("<app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.46.0" is soft blocking app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0)
[blocks B      ] <dev-libs/atk-2.46.0 ("<dev-libs/atk-2.46.0" is soft blocking app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0)

Apparently there's an older version required for bitwarden-bin, gtk+, chromium and various other software packages. How can I resolve this issue and emerge firefox-105.0.2? As different packages required differentversions and they can't be installed at the same time (so they're not slotted?)

Update: Resolved, seems to be going something wrong with dependency checking with Firefox and autounmask. When emerging the packages manually and adding them to ~arch there's no problem

I had this issue as well, stems from dev-libs/atk-2.38 blocking app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0

Getting atk to 2.46 is the fix.

I'm having issues with the same blocked packages, found this thread searching for solutions; I haven't yet figured out how to upgrade atk. In the meantime, pulseaudio has stopped working on my system, which is obviously quite inconvenient (not sure if it's related, but suspect that it must be). After syncing, I get the following:

Code:

Use the ::gentoo version of this and it will work. dev-libs/atk has folded into something else and now the gentoo repo just has a dummy package to get by.

Complain to those who run ::nymphos to get this updated

I came across this same issue today for an unrelated package (ms-teams-pre) and after a sync, the solution on my end was to emerge the following packages in the same go. The hard blocks were cleared, leaving soft blocked to be resolved by portage:

=app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0
=app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.46.0
=dev-libs/atk-2.46.0

This is still an issue. Additionally, it occurs whether you try to emerge atk or the other part first.
Code:

[ebuild     U  ] app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0 [2.44.1]
[ebuild     U  ] dev-libs/atk-2.46.0 [2.38.0]
[blocks b      ] <dev-libs/atk-2.46.0 ("<dev-libs/atk-2.46.0" is soft blocking app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0)
[blocks B      ] <app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.46.0 ("<app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.46.0" is soft blocking app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0)

 * Error: The above package list contains packages which cannot be
 * installed at the same time on the same system.

  (app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.38.0-1:2/2::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    >=app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.15.1[abi_x86_64(-)] required by (x11-libs/gtk+-3.24.33-r1:3/3::gentoo, installed) USE="X cups introspection xinerama (-aqua) -broadway -colord -examples -gtk-doc -sysprof -test -vim-syntax -wayland" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)"
    >=app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.5.3 required by (gui-libs/gtk-4.6.3:4/4::gentoo, installed) USE="X cups introspection (-aqua) -broadway -colord -examples (-ffmpeg) -gstreamer -sysprof -test (-vulkan) -wayland" ABI_X86="(64)" CPU_FLAGS_X86="f16c"

  (app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0:2/2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    >=app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0[introspection?,abi_x86_32(-)?,abi_x86_64(-)?,abi_x86_x32(-)?,abi_mips_n32(-)?,abi_mips_n64(-)?,abi_mips_o32(-)?,abi_s390_32(-)?,abi_s390_64(-)?] (>=app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.46.0[introspection,abi_x86_64(-)]) required by (dev-libs/atk-2.46.0:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) USE="introspection" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)"
    >=app-accessibility/at-spi2-core-2.33.2[abi_x86_64(-)] required by (app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk-2.38.0-1:2/2::gentoo, installed) USE="-test" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)"

Seems like the package to be upgraded is being blocked by new atk and itself, and older atk is somehow blocking its newer version.

What if you try to emerge both at the same time? Both your atk and at-spi2-core are out of date. You need to update atk before you can update at-spi2-core.

If you still need help, please run emerge --pretend --verbose --update --deep @world and post the full output it produces.

I realise that this is an old post, but I have only just come across this problem myself.

What worked for me was

Code:
sudo emerge -va1 dev-libs/atk app-accessibility/at-spi2-core app-accessibility/at-spi2-atk

This removed the block and I was able to continue with @World update.
