I've been using mpv since mplayer support fell off years ago.
After last weekends emerge @world, mpv was working fine and then, after working for one video, audio stopped working.
I'm using pipewire and mpv is set to -ao pulse.
Every other media player, mythtv and Chrome work perfectly. There are no error message. Nothing in the log, or in dmesg.
But audio won't play.
Any idea how to debug this?
SOLVED
mpv supports pipewire directly now if you enable the USE flag and rebuild the package.
Apparently pulse is for pulse only. -ao pipewire works on my system. _________________ Some day there will only be free software.

Unsure why you'd suddenly have issues (audio fine for me between videos, but I don't use pipewire), but mpv-0.35 has native pipewire support now with USE=pipewire (-ao pipewire), may want to try that rather than pass through the pulse compat daemon for nothing. |

Oh! Great catch. I'll add the USE! _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |

You were right! -ao pulse does not work with pipewire anymore...
-ao pipewire does work.
Thanks so much! _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |
