Hi all!
i have a Gentoo server at home, it has two ethernet cards and acts as bridge & dnsmasq & stuff.
It's a 5 years old laptop with two USB gigabit ethernet cards. One works just fine, the other sometimes disconnects with this in the dmesg:
Code: |

The other one, the one working perfectly, it's a ax88179_178a.
To mitigate this issue i have setup a script to check for link availability and restart it, since it's matter of a few moments before it's again available.
I have replaced the card with another one with same chipset but i get still the same error.
Anybody has any ideas?
I have already set "intel_iommu=off" in grub, that solved a different but similar issue.
It's annoying... IT happens once a day or 5 times a week... _________________ Willy Gardiol

Turn off all power management and autosuspend modes on the ethernet adapter, the USB port and related devices. Use powertop, tab "Tunables". |

for future reference, it seems to be working.
Install powertop, go to "tunables" tab and set to "bad" anything related to USB. At least until this is fixed in kernel.... _________________ Willy Gardiol
