[SOLVED] Cannot alter screen refresh rate

Hello again,

My laptop has a native refresh rate of 165Hz, however I cannot seem to access it.

Xorg.0.log seems to recognize it:

I'm also using Intel graphics without any xorg.conf. In the MATE displays app, I only see 60Hz and 120Hz, but even using 120Hz has no effect according to glxgears -- it still says 60Hz.

This laptop has pretty modern hardware which has made the install a bit challenging. When I used to use Gentoo back in 2008-2012, it was easier.

I've "solved" the issue by applying this patch:

This has let me access my native 165Hz refresh rate via
