With kernel 4.19.97 the wpa_supplicant of my initrd worked. Since attempting to migrate to 5.15.52 wifi no longer functions.

Consider the following init of the initrd:
Code:
#!/bin/busybox sh
MODULES="rfkill.ko libarc4.ko cfg80211.ko iwlwifi.ko mac80211.ko iwldvm.ko"
MOD_PATH="lib/modules/5.15.52-gentoo/"

load_modules() {
    for MODULE in ${MODULES} ; do
        insmod -f ${MOD_PATH}/${MODULE}
    done
}
rescue_shell() {
    echo "Something went wrong. Dropping you to a shell."
    busybox --install -s
    exec /bin/sh
}
mount -t proc none /proc
mount -t sysfs none /sys
mount -t devtmpfs none /dev
load_modules || rescue_shell
wpa_supplicant -B -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -iwlan0
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.1.29 up
ping -c10 192.168.1.1
rescue_shell

The ping in the init returns no packets. Moreover, wpa_supplicant returns the following, including horrid "deauthenticating" messages immediately after "associated"
Quote:
send auth to <mac address> (try 1/3)
authenticated
associate with <mac address> (try 1/3)
RX AssocResp from <mac address> (capab=0x1511 status=40 aid=0)
associated
deauthenticating from <mac address> by local choice (Reason: 1=UNSPECIFIED)

After dropping to a busybox prompt, wpa_supplicant remains at "associated", "deauthenticating" does not appear and the interface is usable. eg ping returns packets.

Why does wlan0 not appear to work in init?

So, as soon as wlan0 is "associated", "deauthenticating" happens.

How do I found out what's causing the "deauthenticating"?
