Hi everyone,

I upgraded to kernel version 5.18.6 and suddenly after a reboot lightdm does not start, it get stuck on a black screen with a white underscore.

I can access my data with another virtual terminal (ctrl + alt + f4). I verified that elongid, dbus and display-manager services are running.

Before this happened, I was modifying the kernel to enable a Dell Dock (following the wiki):

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Dell_DA200
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/DisplayLink

Below are some of my configuration files, in case you need more information just ask me:

Make sure elogind starts at boot runlevel.
I remember having similar issues some time back.

I changed the elogind service to boot, it was in default. My "quick" fix was to install gnome/wayland, I can start the graphical interface without issue but the ones that uses X like awesome or even xfce4 are not working.

I will continue checking the logs after work.
