I recently got a 4K 144Hz monitor and discovered that my card seemingly refuses to talk 4K @ 120 (or 144)Hz to it, while windows on the same hardware does.

Code:
hexorg@architect ~ $ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3840 x 2160, maximum 16384 x 16384
DisplayPort-0 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 697mm x 392mm
   3840x2160     60.00*+  60.00    50.00    59.94    30.00    29.97
   2560x1440    143.86   119.88    59.94
   1920x1200     60.00
   1920x1080    143.85   120.00   100.00   119.88    60.00    50.00    59.94
   1600x1200     60.00

Kernel driver in use: amdgpu

I followed the https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/AMDGPU article to set it up. I have no problem in any OpenGL application. Connected over Display Port cable (though I also tried HDMI 2.1 cable).

I've looked around and it seems that I need Display Stream Compression (DSC) to run 4K @ 120Hz, and I found that AMD enabled that for Navi in 2019. Does anyone know if those patches made it into gentoo drivers? Is there some kernel setting I need to enable? I'm running Linux architect 5.15.52-gentoo so the patches should be long time in it.

DSC has been implemented, but for it to work on AMD GPUs it seems to need this "ODM combine" working. I don't even pretend to know what it is, but it seems to get patches from time to time.

So if I'm reading this correctly - the answer is not supported yet (on stable).

That's my wild guess.
