depclean wants to remove openh264, seems risky

For a few months, depclean wants to remove openh264, but the below equery info gives me pause.
I do run Thunderbird, and Firefox is my main browser. Since openh264 is defined as the Cisco OpenH264 library and Gecko Media Plugin for Mozilla packages, I need to get this right.

I am using firefox-bin an thunderbird-bin, instead of compiling them myself, and I do notice when I run an emerge -pv firefox thunerbird to check, openh264 IS enabled on both.

Anyone have advice, comments, details as to pros/cons of doing so? I assume firefox-bin and thnderbird-bin must provide their own openh264, so depclean thinks it can remove openh264- same in ffmpeg.

Am I on the right track?

hello,

this is from gentoo wiki:
Important
The disadvantage of using pre-compiled www-client/firefox-bin package is that almost all of the USE flags in the list above cannot be set. Be aware that setting these flags while using this package will not alter the binary.
sorry, but i'am not really sure if it's required for firefox-bin (i can't remember if i ever used ff-bin package)

just try out removing or re-emerge openh264 and the depclean will be gone (maybe 8O  )

Is ffmpeg installed with the openh264 USE flag? Hint: look at 'equery u ffmpeg'.

My ffmpeg is currently built without openh264 support.

I used to run normal Firefox and Thunderbird and not the "bin" versions for many years, but got tired of the long compile times which with qtwebengine and libreoffice also dragging out @world updates.
