Greetings folks,
Gentoo newbie here, I used it years ago but that was in another lifetime.
Launching terminal isn't working. It spins for while and then just goes away. I have emerged gnome-terminal trying to fix it but that didn't work.
From syslog

Any assistnce would be most welcome.

My bad, I didn't search first, it's because the locale is not set to en_US.UTF-8
That didn't cure it, still exiting with status 8 |

Install another simple terminal to help you troubleshoot the problem. I'd suggest sakura for it's low dependencies and excellent competency.

Excellent. Now, from sakura, run gnome-terminal and you may see some helpful debugging information.
