|
|
Greetings,
I've seem to encounter a strange behavior I've never encountered before.
when i lock the screen and type the passwd in order to login at later stage, I get login failed. I'm sure I'm typing the passwd correctly.
it works at the login screen and when I drop to shell.
I've thought it might be fixed by resetting the passwd however it seems like lasswd doesn't like my old passwd.
any ideas? _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |

DaggyStyle,
Are the keymaps *identical* in both places.
I prefer the dvorak-uk keymap but I can get by on plain dvorak (USA). There are a few keys swapped around but I take care to keep them out of my passwords. _________________ Regards,

I think it uses the same layout ask KDE, I have 3 layouts and the switch is the same between the lock screen and the actual session _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |

Which screen locker are you using? There is an issue with the xscreensaver-6 series that the first key pressed is lost and not added to the password dialog program, so you might not be entering the password you think you are. |

seems like that might be the issue, any fix/workaround? _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |

The workaround is to wake the password dialog program before you type your password. Wave your mouse or press+release a modified key, so that the program is launched. Once it appears, type your password. |

tried that, didn't worked.
I've used the show passwd feature to verify the passwd is ok too. _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |
