|
|
I am considering the purchase of a USB audio device (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MTrackDuo--m-audio-m-track-duo-usb-audio-interface) but I do not know if linux will support it. Reading Audiodef's tales of woe regarding Onyx firewire mixers bodes ill.
The use case here is to connect a recently acquired amp/FX modeller via it's L/R XLR connectors for sound at home.
Hmm.. I just noticed that the modeller has a SPDIF out connector. Probably a easier/cheaper way to go. But it would still be good to know if USB/Firewire audio is an option.
Thanks,
shrike

Thanks Neddy,
Evidently "USB Class" compliance covers MIDI, video, audio and of course storage.
Amazing what a basic search can reveal.

shrike,
Its not always that simple.
You can have a USB device that is not covered by a 'class' driver. Then it needs its own driver.
You made a lucky choice.
e.g. UVC is the USB Video Class driver but look at all those other USB video drivers in the kernel. _________________ Regards,

NeddySeagoon,
"Its not always that simple."
You're right. However, I am now aware that some products claim USB Class compliance. But that is no substitute for proper research.
Thank you for clarifying.
Sincerely,
