Hey there.

So what are these green processes in my htop? The process names are green. They all belong to the kthreadd daemon (which also is green) and there are like 20+ of them and they're all owned by root.

I think I've not seen them before or I haven't gone all the way to the bottom in htop.

Edits: Also in recent memory I have not enabled any services, although I have installed a bunch of packages.

My bad I worded my post wrong. What I meant more was what are these processes, not so much so the colors.

Mainly worried about something malicious.

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man1/htop.1.html

Quote:
+, -, *
When in tree view mode, expand or collapse subtree. When a
subtree is collapsed a "+" sign shows to the left of the
process name. Pressing "*" will expand or collapse all
children of PIDs without parents, so typically PID 1 (init)
and PID 2 (kthreadd on Linux, if kernel threads are shown).

are you really (need) or using all these packages?

Oh, so in conclusion its nothing to be alarmed for. And yeah It did look like kernel related because of the children processes names, but I just wanted to be sure because I wasn't sure if it had appeared recently or not. That's all.

I need most of the packages, but I'll still do some spring cleaning. For context I have around 1000 packages, which to me sounds like a lot but when I had a look at the world file, I realized there were hardly anything I did not need.

Thanks for the help!
