|
|
I have a NanoPi M1 board (Allwinner H3 SoC) which is running Armbian bootloader+kernel with Gentoo userspace (GNU, OpenRC, etc).
With linux-firmware, X can now work on GPU (mesa driver with lima enabled). However, screen tearing still happens.
I want to run a compositor for tearfree, but picom appears to be incompatible with armv7 (equery y picom).
Search engines showed no helpful results on this topic. Is there anyway (compositor or not) to enable tearfree on armv7? |

As I read the picom keywords, its status on arm64 is testing. It is not marked as known broken anywhere, though there are some architectures which are silent as to whether it is expected to work or expected to fail. This is probably because no one has reported a result for those architectures. You may be able to get it to work just by accepting its keyword for your architecture. |

Neruthes,
Everywhere picom is keyworded, its testing.
Test it on arm and file a bug asking for an ~arm keyword if it works.
As its testing, its allowed to have testing dependencies too, so you may need to keyword things that it depends on. _________________ Regards,

Thanks for your comments. I added ~arm keyword to picom and it was compiled without error.
Although picom has no runtime error, it could not help the tearfree problem. It might not be easy to discover whether it is a configuration problem or a bug.
With the success so far, should I be submitting a pull request to the portage tree? |

Neruthes,
Put your entire Xorg.0.log onto a pastebin site please.
wgetpaste can help. _________________ Regards,
