|
Hi,
yesterday i upgraded to tigervnc 1.12.0-r5 (due to stabilization of the same).
Based on this switch i needed update some configration (e.g. set vncuser and in user ~/.vnc/config some settings)
config
Quote: | session=fluxbox
securitytypes=vncauth,tlsvnc
geometry=1920x1080
localhost
alwaysshared
|
unfortunately it does not really start xinit and therefore i have no session to connect to.
For testing pre-stable 1.12 build i also have it running on my main machine where it starts fine and is see sth. like this if started from ps -ef | grep vnc
Quote: | root 13569 1 0 12:55 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/vncsession simon :1
simon 13570 13569 0 12:55 ? 00:00:00 xinit /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsession startfluxbox -- /usr/bin/Xvnc :1 -geometry 1920x1080 -localhost -securitytypes vncauth,tlsvnc -auth /home/simon/.Xauthority -desktop jen:1 (simon) -fp /usr/share/fonts/misc,/usr/share/fonts/100dpi,/usr/share/fonts/Type1 -pn -rfbauth /home/simon/.vnc/passwd -rfbport 5901
simon 13581 13570 0 12:55 ? 00:00:03 /usr/bin/Xvnc :1 -geometry 1920x1080 -localhost -securitytypes vncauth,tlsvnc -auth /home/simon/.Xauthority -desktop jen:1 (simon) -fp /usr/share/fonts/misc,/usr/share/fonts/100dpi,/usr/share/fonts/Type1 -pn -rfbauth /home/simon/.vnc/passwd -rfbport 5901
|
on the affected machine i only see
Quote: |
root 21910 1 0 13:16 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/vncsession simon :1
simon 21911 21910 1 13:16 ? 00:00:00 perl /usr/libexec/vncserver :1
root 21923 3193 0 13:16 pts/4 00:00:00 grep --colour=auto vnc
|
In the ~/vnc/machine:1.log i see the following
Quote: |

The only difference i see is that on my main machine (where it works but i don't need it) Xorg is running anyhow.
Does anyone have further hints how to find the issue or what else to check.
Thanks a lot!
[edit]
Seems all that was missing was a distplay manager. I have now installed sddm to provide the Xsession file and it works. Will now test if xdm is also sufficient [edit2: works as well].
Remembered it being mentioned here Bug 746227
Not sure if there should be a dependency check/hint somewhere or if i just overlooked it. |

Look in .xsession-errors for clues about missing executable. |

As for my case, I start Fluxbox when TigerVNC starts.
Code: | [~/.vnc/xstartup]
/usr/bin/startfluxbox
|
Despite so, the plain X session kept starting (and failed). I just renamed it and created a link. Prolly not a good way to solve it, but well, it works.
Code: | cd /etc/X11/Sessions
mv Xsession Xsession.old
ln -s fluxbox Xsession
|
__
