Hi all, hoping for some insight.
Been using gentoo a long time ago, but it's been a minute and I want to get back to it. Trying to install on Lenovo ThinkPad yoga 11e older laptop.
I've upgraded it to SSD and want to start tinkering with the OS again. After following the handbook for the install, I get hang that can be seen in the title of this post.
I've read some posts where the display driver was the issue, i915 which is enabled in the kernel, but there may be some other cause of the hang.

Kernel config: https://pastebin.com/uPtLwVuU
Any help appreciated,
Thanks

enullz,
Welcome to Gentoo.
In addition to what luna80 said, CONFIG_FB is a menu.
Turn on VESA Framebuffer, EFI Framebuffer and Simple Framebuffer in that menu.
All other hardware framebuffer drivers must be off.
If you want a row of Tux logos at the top of the framebuffer when the kernel boots, turn on logos too. _________________ Regards,

Thank you both luna80 and Neddy for your expert advice.
I totally forgot about frame buffer support, and who doesn't like penguins in your console
I would almost question why this isn't included in the Handbook though, but it's working for me now.
Related question; how does one turn on function to scroll back in the buffer "shift+pgup" ?

enullz,
That kernel function was removed due to bit rot.
I've seen some forums posts that its being reworked and a link to a kernel patch that adds the functionality back.
Meanwhile use screen or tmux. _________________ Regards,
