It'd be a duller place indeed without Neddy. I wish I had half that kind of patience. +1 |

Been watching Neddy here for 20 years and in that time I've learned a great deal from him.
Neddy relays information in both a pragmatic and theoretical fashion that I find interesting no matter
what he is discussing. His deduction and solutions to problems, often with very little information, is
at times uncanny! It doesn't seem to be isolated just to computing, but a more
general way he thinks about solutions. Over the years hes given a great deal to this community and its
lovely to see everyone posting on this thread. |

There are plenty of bright stars in the forums, but NeddySeagoon is a legend. |

Neddy, as a community we can't thank you enough for having you here. You're really valuable in both quantity (amount of posts) and quality (technical correctness of posts). I guess everybody who posts here on the forums at some point in time got a reply from you
It might be a bit uncomfortable reading all this, but it's really about you and everything is true. (Ok, this is a bit risky to say, i didn't read all posts in this topic ). _________________ The gentoo way of bringing peace to the world:

Over 50,000 posts. Wow. In terms of time, that's basically years of full-time work into supporting this community.
Like so many others I can remember some of the most informative and useful replies coming from NeddySeagoon. In the old days, seeing a reply from Neddy was right up there, in terms of reassurance that all would now be well, with coming back from your vacation to discover that libreoffice had actually finished a successful build.
In fact for me as a user whose interactions with Gentoo are largely through these forums, Neddy, I'm not sure if I'd be using Gentoo today at all had it not been for your support over the years. These forums are one of the best things about Gentoo, and you've played a huge role in setting their tone. So, yes, a huge thank you for those 50,000+ helpful communications.
The forums have assigned me the grandiose title of "Guru" for my fewer-than-500 posts; for more than 100 times that contribution (to say nothing of the better quality of the posts, too), you have the very non-grandiose title of "Administrator". I feel like 50,000 posts deserves its own new category. At first I thought something astronomically grandiose would be necessary to keep things in proportion ("Legendary God", for example); but upon reflection the new category should just be named "NeddySeagoon", as there can be only one NeddySeagoon. |

I'd like to thank you for your continuous support and knowledge sharing on these forums. I really can't count how many times my problems with my Gentoo installs have been solved by your tips. And I bet there are hundreds of others who have had their Gentoo problems sorted out by your guides too.

Congratulations and thank you from the bottom of my heart Neddy! Your knowledge, problem-solving approach and (Gentoo) loyalty are truly inspiring. |
