|
|
When the system boots, if the Ethernet cable is connected, the network is functional.
But if the Ethernet cable is NOT plugged in, the network is (obviously) not functional, but the network selection drop-down UI at the GDM login screen lists both the Ethernet option and the WiFi option, but it is not possible to select the Wifi option, it is grayed out.
If the Ethernet cable is connected and I log in, I am asked for a wallet password, and after entering the correct password, the WiFi connection activates itself.
Is there a way to pre-set the Wifi options so that the network is available even at the login screen, even when no user is logged in?
I am using systemd
Thank you for your help |

Assuming you're using Networkmanager you'll need to set the wifi profile to be accessible by everyone, which would include nobody. At least that's how it works on my machine. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

Thanks, eccerr0r!
How do you do that, exactly?
I followed the article here:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/NetworkManager
And applied the steps that seemed relevant.
But when the machine boots, the situation has not changed: The eth0 connection is functional if the cable is connected, but the WiFi item at the GDM greeter is still grayed-out.
Thanks! |
