It looks like emerge is right here. bsddb3 is, in fact, asking for db-4.2* which is, in fact, masked in package.mask. Is this just an oversite? Is there a solution to this that anyone knows of. Thanks for the help.
John
Code: | mendelssohn:/home/jorussel# emerge -auD world
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies -
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "=sys-libs/db-4.2*" have been masked.
!!! possible candidates are:
- sys-libs/db-4.2.52_p1 (masked by: package.mask)
!!! (dependency required by "dev-python/bsddb3-4.2.4" [ebuild])
!!! Problem with ebuild net-www/straw-0.21.2
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.
!!! Depgraph creation failed.

You can emerge a masked package. You just do so at your own risk. It's "emerge db-4.2.52_p1.ebuild" i.e. use the entire file name. You could also try dopping down to an earlier bsddb3 emerge. |

While all of this is true, that's not really the point. I was mentioning it because it seems to be a dependency problem in portage. I understand that this is why there is the ~arch flag, but if no one asks about issues, then how will anyone know to fix them. My question remains, is this really a bug that should be logged? |
