hello, i have 2 monitors but in the shell and in xorg I can only get one at a time, and the resolution will not go above 1024x768(they are both 1080p monitors). I cannot setup my xorg.conf.d to set the resolution of either monitor because xrandr gives me the following output:
Code:
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   1024x768      76.00*

Xorg.0.log from X -configure:http://dpaste.com/7QWNMXAFX
emerge --info: http://dpaste.com/94B7TCJYM
kernel.config:http://dpaste.com/54MZTW5DF
.xinitrc: http://dpaste.com/GHXUB4NFT
dmesg: http://dpaste.com/5DFGM58G5
ok hopefully thats all of the potentially useful log files. already tried xrandr --newmode and --addmode, neither worked. been stuck on this for a while now, would appreciate ur help.

Need the Xorg.0.log from a regular startup.
Can't make heads or tails what card you have, and whether nouveau gave up on it or not.

Need to make sure that you're not using the VESA or fbcon drivers.

Had a weird issue with my video card, an old PCIe ATI, had to pitch it because I couldn't run it dual head with my monitors at full resolution due to card limitations.

Well looks like you're using efifb somehow. Nouveau nvidia driver is not taking over the video card. I'm not too familiar with efi framebuffer, might need to disable it, but then not sure if nouveau supports the video card you have, may need to use the closed source nvidia driver...

alright i spent literally 5 days on and off trying to get nouveau to work disabling efifb on startup of xorg. i switched to proprietary nvidia drivers and it worked immediately, monitors autoconfigured perfect. im a very silly person for not trying that sooner but i rly wanted to stay away from binary blobs as much as possible. if anyone knows more about nouveau interactions with efifb and how they work i would appreciate the insight but its solved for now thank u man.

Not sure if disabling

CONFIG_FB_EFI=y

in your kernel config is sufficient to allow nouveau to grab your card, worth a try if you haven't yet.
