Hi,
I have 16bit app which worked fine with Wine 5.x, but doesn't work anymore in Wine 6.x (both stable and arch). It throws following error:

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

I already have set XP mode as mentioned in some articles.
Any idea how to fix it?

I have the same problem with a 16-bit Windows application:

Looks like there is a bug in WINE:
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51564
We'll have to wait for a newer version of WINE for the bug to be fixed.

The 16-bit application is working for me again now that I have app-emulation/wine-vanilla-6.23 installed.
