Hi,

As the title states when booting my system pulseaudio take about 3-5 mins to get the sound cards and displays dummy ones until it does.
Alsa doesn't have this problem so i suspect it the auto detection module (module-udev-detect).

How can i speed this up? or is the only solution is to manually\static card config in pulseaudio?

I use Gentoo on a Pi and I realised that a normal user could not do some basic audio things without root previleges. I have wait to put my user in the audio group but this convince me to put it in. Since then he can do any audio tasks. I don't need Pulseaudio on my Pi, I do not project to use Bluetooth on it what need Pulseaudio for me.

Is your user in the audio group or it is pulse who is in it? Are you enabling pulseaudio system wide or per user?

My user is in the audio group, also tried to remove it and the behavior stayed the same.
It is strange that the alsa wiki suggests to add the user to audio while the pulseaudio wiki says that if you are using systemd then no one may be part of the audio group...
I don't have any audio\pulse\alsa users on my system at all

I have pulseaudio set in make.conf so i guess that makes it systemwide.

No the pulseaudio USE flag will add support for pulseaudio in what you emerge but starting pulseaudio as system wide allow anybody to connect to the pulseaudio server even root. It is started with root previleges and root own the server. Starting pulseaudio as one user only allow this user to connect to the pulseaudio server. This user is the owner.

Pulseaudio is often start automatically with X for desktop environments, Gnome, Kde, Xfce4 and Lxde. For window managers it may be not. It depend on xdg. On Openbox I have to activate him manually.

pulseaudio system wide have never work for me and is greatly discouraged.
