Greetings,

I've noticed that my laptop behaves different between the login screen and kde, does anyone knows how to define the power profile for sddm or lightdm by any chance?

my laptop is systemd based, so I think I need to set these:
Code:

HandleLidSwitch
HandleLidSwitchExternalPower
HandleLidSwitchDocked

I want the lid closure to be ignored on AC connection and hibernate on battery, if I'm not mistaken, setting it to the following:
Code:

HandleLidSwitch=hibernate
HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=ignore
HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore

will do the trick, no?

Yes. That should work. However if you set different settings via KDE gui tools, those settings take effect when you have logged in, and revert back when you have logged out. KDE has some settings plugin for sddm too. I can't remember if it can adjust power management settings.

thanks for the confirmation.
if I don't define them in KDE, it should revert to the above default, correct?

In my testing (about a year ago) sddm uses the global settings from elogind.conf/sleep.conf.
Test it?
