|
|
I upgraded ZFS to 2.0.5 recently (glad to see that's stable now) and was greeted with the usual "This version of OpenZFS includes support for new feature flags that are incompatible with previous versions" warning. Thing is, I feel like I've been getting that warning for at least two years now. grub was recently updated to version 2.06 in June so it seems like it *should* should support the newer features at this point if this this part of the message is true, "GRUB2 support will be updated as soon as either the GRUB2 developers do a tag."
Can anyone confirm for sure one way or the other whether grub is compatible now or not? or is there any way I can test that myself without actually upgrading the pool and risking an unbootable system? _________________ https://www.legroom.net/ |

Its all about pool features.
Code: |
-o ashift=12 -O acltype=posixacl -O canmount=off -O compression=lz4 -O dnodesize=auto -O normalization=formD -O relatime=on -O xattr=sa
|
These are ok for root pools.
Just avoid using boot pools and prefer plain partitions instead.
OR
follow 100% the instruction on this
https://openzfs.github.io/openzfs-docs/Getting%20Started/Debian/Debian%20Buster%20Root%20on%20ZFS.html
If you follow Gentoo or Funtoo way you will get these error messages
I did. _________________

Thanks, alamahant. That's great info. Appreciate the pointer, especially to the openzfs page. Will do some further research. _________________ https://www.legroom.net/ |
